Spring break is in full swing and what could be more fun than spending it with your four-legged friend? The Netherlands offers countless opportunities for an unforgettable holiday without having to travel far. Here are six adventures that will strengthen your bond!

1. Blow out at the coast

The Dutch coastline is perfect for a long walk with your dog. Spring often brings lovely sunny days with a fresh breeze - ideal for blowing out together! Most beaches are freely accessible to dogs outside the high season. Our favourite? The quiet beach at Castricum, where your dog can run around freely while you enjoy the view.

Tip: Bring a waterproof jacket for your dog, such as the Pupguard , in case of unexpected spring showers!

2. Exploring the woods

The Hoge Veluwe National Park slowly comes to life in spring. The first spring flowers, awakening animals and fresh scents make it a paradise for curious dogs and cats (with a safe cat harness of course). Follow the special pet routes for the best experience.

Perfect for: Active dogs who love to explore new scents

3. Have a drink on a terrace in the city

More and more catering establishments in the Netherlands are welcoming pets. Amsterdam has dozens of pet-friendly cafés where you can enjoy a drink together on the terrace. Our recommendations: Café de Jaren (with a large terrace on the water), Bakers & Roasters and Dignita Hoftuin, all with pet-friendly outdoor areas.

Don't forget: A collapsible drinking bowl for on the go, so your pet can always drink water

4. Sailing on the Loosdrecht Lakes

Rent a boat and enjoy the water together! Many boat rental companies allow pets on board. The Loosdrechtse Plassen offer beautiful sailing routes along picturesque villages and nature reserves. Jetties such as at Oud-Loosdrecht often have places where you can picnic with your pet.

Please note: Make sure your dog has a life jacket if he or she cannot swim well!

5. Indoor games for rainy days

The Dutch spring can sometimes be wet. No problem! With the right games you can also have a great time indoors. Think of:

  • Playing hide and seek with treats throughout the house
  • Learning new tricks with reward methods
  • Create an indoor obstacle course from pillows and blanket tunnels
  • Interactive puzzles (like the PupPuzzle for dogs and the FlutterFun for cats can provide hours of fun!)

Tip: Alternate physical games with rest periods for optimal mental stimulation

6. Photoshoot among the tulips

Nothing says 'Dutch spring' like the tulip fields. Take unforgettable photos of your pet among the colorful flowers. Just make sure to always follow the designated paths and respect the plants.

Best locations: The Bulb Region (try the Keukenhof area), Flevoland (Tulip Route) and the Noordoostpolder

Whatever your vacation plans, remember that the most important thing is that you enjoy yourselves together. Your pet will love everything as long as you are there! A walk in your own neighborhood with extra attention can be just as special as a trip further away.
